About Lesson Computer
Lesson Computer is a Mauritius-based e-learning platform offering Computer Science classes for students from Grade 7 to A-Level. The brand uses paid marketing to generate student enrollments, demo bookings and recorded course purchases.
Project overview
Lesson Computer had no structured Meta tracking system. Pixel-only tracking lost 40–60% of events on iOS devices and blocked browsers, and GA4 had no eCommerce setup for the recorded course checkout flow. High-intent actions such as syllabus downloads, demo requests, WhatsApp inquiries and course purchases were not tracked accurately.
To scale efficiently, the brand needed a reliable way to measure both lead generation and course sales. I implemented a hybrid Meta Pixel + Conversion API + GA4 Enhanced eCommerce system to capture every lead and purchase event.
Goals
- Build full Meta Pixel + CAPI tracking for the course lead and purchase funnel
- Deploy GA4 Enhanced eCommerce tracking for recorded course purchases
- Track WhatsApp clicks, form submissions, demo bookings and scroll interactions
- Create a GA4 funnel for complete student journey visibility
- Build dashboards to analyze performance and drop-offs
- Strengthen remarketing with high-intent audiences
Challenges
- No GA4 eCommerce schema for the recorded course checkout
- No server-side tracking, causing significant event loss
- Missing value, course ID and transaction ID in purchase events
- No WhatsApp, demo booking or syllabus download tracking
- Weak retargeting due to missing micro-interaction data
- No funnel visualization in GA4, so optimization was blind
Strategy
I built a complete tracking ecosystem with GTM Web, GTM Server, Stape.io and GA4 Enhanced eCommerce, mapping every step of the student journey from browsing a course to the final purchase. A hybrid Meta Pixel and Conversion API architecture handles course purchases and lead generation events, with advanced matching and server-side event routing for reliable attribution.
What I implemented
Meta Pixel (browser-side)
- Configured PageView, ViewContent, AddToCart, ViewCart, InitiateCheckout and Purchase
- Integrated course ID, title, value, currency and duration
- Custom lead events: whatsapp_click, demo_submit, form_submit, cta_click
- Custom engagement events: scroll_depth, syllabus_download, faq_click
- Added event_id for deduplication
Meta Conversion API (server-side)
- Set up a GTM server container via Stape.io
- Connected the custom tracking domain track.lessoncomputer.mu
- Sent server-side Purchase and Lead signals with enriched matching
- Hashed email, phone, IP and user agent
GA4 Enhanced eCommerce
- Deployed the full funnel view_item → add_to_cart → begin_checkout → purchase
- Tracked recorded course purchases with value, currency and transaction ID
- Integrated cart interactions and course variations
- Linked GA4 to Google Ads for enhanced conversions
GA4 lead & behavior tracking
- whatsapp_click, demo_request, form_submit
- course_view, pricing_view, video_engagement
- scroll_depth (25%–100%)
Funnels & dashboards
- GA4 Explore funnels for the enrollment journey
- Recorded course purchase funnel
- User engagement and drop-off visualization
- Instructor performance insights
- Retention and returning user behavior
QA testing & validation
- GTM Web + Server debug testing
- Cleared Meta Events Manager diagnostics
- End-to-end verification in GA4 DebugView
- Validated with real test purchases
Tools used
