Click ID & UTM Checker: Is Your Ad Landing URL Tracked?

Paste the URL people land on after clicking your ad. See every click ID and UTM parameter, which platform it belongs to, and what is wrong.

utm_sourceFacebookUTMWhere the traffic came from (e.g. google, facebook, newsletter).
utm_mediumpaid_socialUTMChannel type (e.g. cpc, paid_social, email). Drives GA4 default channel groups.

  • Uppercase letters in UTM values split reports in GA4 (Facebook and facebook are different sources).
  • Spaces in UTM values. Use underscores or hyphens instead.

Why click IDs matter

Ad platforms add a click ID such as gclid (Google Ads), fbclid (Meta) or ttclid (TikTok) to the landing URL. Your tags store it in a first-party cookie and send it back with the conversion. If a redirect, a page builder or a consent tool strips it, the platform cannot match the conversion to the click, and smart bidding loses that signal.

How to test your real ads

Click your own ad (or use the ad preview link), copy the full URL from the address bar once the page loads and paste it here. If the click ID is missing on the final page but present in the ad URL, something on your site is removing it. Common causes are redirects from http to https or from non-www to www, cookie banners that reload the page, and link shorteners.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between gclid, gbraid and wbraid?

gclid is the standard Google Ads click ID. On iOS, when gclid cannot be used for privacy reasons, Google sends gbraid (app-to-web) or wbraid (web-to-app) instead. Your Google tag and offline conversion imports should accept all three.

Why is fbclid missing on my landing page?

Meta adds fbclid to most ad clicks automatically. If it is missing, check for redirects that drop query parameters, URL rules in your CMS, or landing pages loaded inside an iframe.

Should I add UTMs to Google Ads?

It is optional. With auto-tagging on, GA4 gets campaign data through the gclid and the Google Ads link. If you add UTMs too, keep utm_source=google and utm_medium=cpc so they do not conflict.
