How to Give Access to Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics 4 (GA4) shows where your visitors come from and which of them buy, book or enquire. Adding me as a user lets me check and fix how your data is collected, without ever needing your password.
analyticsbychamok@gmail.comBefore you start
- Administrator role on the GA4 property (or on the account above it). Only Administrators can add users
- To know which property is your website's. If you have several, the property name usually matches your site
- My email address: analyticsbychamok@gmail.com
Why I need this access
- 01 Audit your setup: check that page views, purchases, leads and other key events are recorded correctly and not counted twice.
- 02 Configure the property: data streams, key events (conversions), custom definitions, data retention, internal-traffic filters and cross-domain settings.
- 03 Connect GA4 to Google Ads, Search Console and, if needed, BigQuery, so your ad and search data line up with what happens on your site.
- 04 Build the reports and explorations you actually need, so you can see what is working at a glance.
Which role to choose
Editor (property level). Editor gives full control of the property's settings, which covers all setup and audit work, including linking Google Ads, Search Console and BigQuery from inside GA4. Editor cannot add or remove users, so you keep control of who sees your data. Administrator is only needed if you want me to manage users for you. Viewer or Analyst is too limited: I could look, but not fix anything. Leave the data restriction boxes unticked; otherwise revenue and ad-cost figures are hidden and I cannot check that purchases and ROAS are tracked correctly.

Add
Click "Add" at the top right. I will appear in the list straight away.
After you send the invite
- I will confirm by email when I can see your property, and send you a short list of what I found during the first check.
- Before linking Google Ads, Search Console or BigQuery, I will tell you what will be connected. The other side of each link needs its own access (see the FAQ).
- To remove access later: go to Admin, Property access management, find my email, open the menu (three dots) on that row and choose "Remove access".
Google Analytics 4 access: common questions
Do you need Administrator to link Google Ads, Search Console or BigQuery?
No, not on the GA4 side. Google requires Editor (or higher) on the property for all three links. The other platform has its own requirement: Admin access in Google Ads, a verified owner of the Search Console property, and Owner access to the Google Cloud project for BigQuery. If I don't have that, we can do that step together on a short call.
What is the difference between account and property access?
A GA4 account can contain several properties (for example one per website). Access given at account level applies to every property in it; access at property level applies only to that one. Property level is usually all I need.
What are data restrictions?
Two optional checkboxes, No cost metrics and No revenue metrics, that hide money figures from a user. For tracking work I need to see revenue and cost to check that purchases and ad spend are recorded correctly, so please leave them unticked.
I only see Viewer or Analyst and can't add users. Why?
You are not an Administrator on this property. Ask the person who set up GA4 (often a web developer or previous agency) to add me, or to make you an Administrator.
